Nugget has been sold and is now a Pony Club mount for a young boy where he is able to use his great talent for jumping.
Huia has gone to horse heaven this wonderful pony who was probably in her late 30’s was happy, healthy and enthusiastic to the last and has left a big gap in all our hearts. She gave so much to our riders and will always be in our memories.

Tui’s Enya
Loaned to Hastings RDA in 2005 by Maureen Skilton of Waipawa and purchased by Hastings RDA in 2006. Enya was born on the 21st January 1997 a Registered Part Bred Morgan, 14hh and bright bay she competed at the National Morgan Show in 2007 being placed in led and ridden classes with one of our riders, she has since competed in local dressage, western and riding club shows, at our local A&P Show with our riders and at a RDA Dressage day. She is a pony with a strong personality and lots of energy who enjoys plenty of attention. Enya is ridden by our more confident balanced riders who benefit from her quick stride and lively nature.
Tui’s Enya is sponsored by N G Wall and Tracey Fausett

Milo
Milo was a 17 year old when purchased by Hastings Group RDA in 2007 this very handsome chocolate dun gelding of around 14.3hh came to us from Wairoa where he had been a much loved Pony Club mount for 6 years for the Manson family, before that he had been a drovers pony. Good in traffic and generally unflappable he is a great RDA pony and is happy for his rider to sit facing backwards or sideways. He is the star of the Hawke’s Bay Show every year, the judges loved him nearly as much as we do and has also competed at the Hawke’s Bay Western Club Summer Show. He loves carrots and knows his work so well he could do it all without a leader or sidewalkers.
Milo is sponsored by Mountrath Charitable Trust and Christine and Geoff Small.

Angel
Purchased by Hastings Group RDA in 2010 at the age of 9 Angel is a 14hh chestnut mare she had been with her previous owners for 4 years taking their daughter to Pony Club and then breeding a lovely foal when she was outgrown. Angel is settling in well to therapeutic riding work and is calm and well behaved with her clients, she is able to be used for some of our more profoundly disabled riders and also ridden off the lead by those who wish to progress their riding. We look forward to taking Angel to the A&P Show and watching her progress as a therapeutic riding pony. Angel loves her food (we have to watch her weight) and really enjoys getting treats from her riders.
Angel is sponsored by Steve and Judy Ryan.

Teeny Weeny or Teeny Weany
Donated to Hastings Group RDA in early 2010 by volunteer Owen Clarke following a trial period Teeny is a 15hh brown thoroughbred mare, aged 13 years, who started her career as a racehorse, being place twice. Her gentle and friendly nature have made her a wonderful therapeutic riding horse and she continues to grow in her role, she is the horse we now use for some of our most profoundly disabled riders and she copes with riders who struggle to keep their balance and whose behaviour can be testing. She is much loved (and cuddled) by riders and volunteers alike.
Teeny Weeny is sponsored by Hastings District Masonic Trust Inc.

Petra
Petra a 15.2hh grey mare aged 21 years was donated to Hastings Group RDA in January 2010 by Mrs Jan McErlich. She had been Jan’s husband’s farm hack all her life and she brought her sensible and sure footed nature to therapeutic riding. This was a huge transition for Petra who had never been in an indoor arena before and had only had two previous float trips; she has taken it all in her calm stride and is now a valued member of the therapeutic riding team. Loved by all her riders she is used for therapeutic work with riders who struggle to sit unaided on their horse and also by independent riders who are learning more advanced skills, Petra’s calm but willing nature makes her ideal for RDA work, she enjoys grooming sessions with her riders and will accept lots of pats and cuddles and treats as her just rewards.
Petra is sponsored by Topstock International.

Tonto
Hastings Group RDA’s newest horse purchased from Jocelyn Bennet of Wairo in February 2011. Tonto is a 14.3hh 7 year old chestnut gelding by an Appaloosa stallion, he was Jocelyn’s pleasure horse for 2 years and before that he had been used for station work and Pony Club and won ribbons at Wairo A&P Show and local dressage. This handsome horse loves attention from his handlers and is currently in training to become a therapeutic riding horse, he is currently used with more independent riders who enjoy his cheerful attitude (he likes to pick up the arena props). Hastings RDA looks forward to Tonto have a long and varied career with the Group.
Tonto is sponsored by Heretaunga Building Society.
